Two fifty foot ropes are suspended from a forty foot ceiling, about twenty feet apart.

Armed with only a knife, how much of the rope can you steal?

I feel like I'm missing some information, but....  Provided you don't mind falling forty feet and flying through the air, you can steal all of it. Grabbing the end of one rope, climb the other, slice it off at the top, fall a ways, suspended, climb the rest of the second rope, and slice it off at the top (or at the height that you're comfortable falling.
