You have a square glass panel with 24 cm sides and a ring with 5 cm internal diameter.
Cut the glass in 4 identical pieces such that you can slide them through the ring.

How about square spirals of 3cm width? Then the corners would still be under 5 cm.
Note that the picture is a 24X24 text box, with each space and * represent a
square of area of cm^2. The * marks an edge of a piece. A cut forms two edges,
