Two fifty foot ropes are suspended from a forty foot ceiling, about twenty feet apart.

Armed with only a knife, how much of the rope can you steal?

By climbing to the top of the first rope whilst holding the other rope you could cut the rope at the top and swing on the held rope to a height of 20 feet giving you 50 feet of rope!!
You then climb down this rope and cut it at head height giving you 16 feet of rope.
