A synogram is a pair of words which are synonyms with the added rule that they are also anagrams (plus or minus one letter.)
For instance, bush and shrub are synonyms with only the letter R added to bush to make it an anagram of shrub. Another synogram pair is ludicrous and ridiculous.
What other synograms can you find?
(In reply to
Short and long Synograms by Penny)
Huh? I don't get most of these.
Yen = desire = sort of envy, a bit of a stretch
Dog = to track or persist = ... goad... maybe
Tic = twitch = not really an itch
Nix = stop, prevent, nothing, Jinx = bring bad luck
Bio and Orbit? Can't see anything for that one
Law and Weal? A weal is prosperity or a ridge. Can't see that.
Counterindication isn't a word, I don't think (and neither does the
dictionary or google). Contraindication, perhaps? Neither is
countervindication, according to the same sources.
Halfheartedness and falseheartedness are also not synonyms, and differ by two letters (H in one, S and E in the other).
Anyway... I liked the other examples! :)
