What you've submitted is an example that illustrates the equality. One example doesn't prove the equality to be true, however. In theory, if you want to prove an equality true by example, you would need to generate every possible example in order to show that there are no counter-examples. Of course, it's not possible to generate every possible example, since there are an infinite number of possible degrees that could serve as examples. Therefore it is not possible in this case to "prove by example."
