Like you I had prior knowledge and also resisted; the 'slant' I had in
mind was all horizontal additions which was nothing as clever as your
submission.
RE the event, and those of a similar nature, I agree that such cowardly
blatant attacks on innocent civilian populations cannot be forgiven, no
matter who the perpetrators be.
