A six letter word, that when you take out its last letter, becomes half of its meaning.
What word is it?
"...becomes half of its meaning..."
That phrase could be variously interpreted, so this puzzle should probably have given an example. Also, after we take out the last letter, I assume we can rearrange the remaining 5 letters. The puzzle didn't say otherwise.
Pliers = 2 X Plier -- if "plier" means one of the two jaws that make up a pliers.
Enrage = 2 X Anger -- take out the last letter and rearrange the remaining 5, and you get the verb "anger" - meaning to make someone angry - that is, if to enrage someone makes him twice as furious as merely to anger him.
Budget = 2 X Debug --- take out the last letter and rearrange the remaining 5 - if it is true, as they say, that half the budget of every software department goes into efforts to debug program code. This one is more of a joke than the first two.
