A six letter word, that when you take out its last letter, becomes half of its meaning.
What word is it?

There´s no sense in what you are saying. Obviously I agree with you that six is half a dozen.
But, accordingly to the author, is a 6-letter word, (that when you take out its last letter, become a 5-letter word), and this five letter word is half of the meaning of the original 6-letter word.
I stand at my point. I´m expecting an answer like this:
eighty -----> eight ---------> one-tenth (in this problem is half, not one-tenth).
Or another word that is beyond my knowledge. But not plurals, unless the plural means the double of the word in the singular. Edited on October 11, 2005, 10:09 pm
