Shorten and halve (Posted on 2005-09-21) Difficulty: 2 of 5
A six letter word, that when you take out its last letter, becomes half of its meaning. What word is it?

I saw the site, Brad. Itīs the same question, and probably (I think thereīs no doubt now) j44 will give this answer.

So, Iīll stop searching, because I disagree completely with this reasoning and the answer given in that site.

The problem doesnīt say "THE SIX LETTER WORD", it says "A SIX LETTER WORD", that is quite different, at least for me. "THE" is defined, "A" is undefined.

I still say: DOZEN is the double of "THE SIX...", not "A SIX..."

Tk you for prevent me for wasting my time.
