Charlie is right, but for the wrong reason.  The answer is "adder," but that isn't a decryption step.  It's a pun.

For those new to this thread, the second or third comment decrypts the five words into: "XOR is half of this snake."

But it's not really a snake.  It's a logical function.  On Wikipedia, read the Adder (electronics) entry, and you'll see both an adder function and a half-adder function, both of which involve XOR.  I'm not sure if the author is considering XOR to be half of the full adder function, or if he's considering XOR to be all of the half-adder function.  But either way, I bet that's what he's thinking of.
