Number the corners of a cube from 1 to 8, so that the sum of the four corners of every face is the same.

My solution (Spoiler) by Vernon Lewis)
Considering the cube to be hollow, and looking into one of the faces (the top face in Vernon's description):
8-----------1
|\ /|
| \ / |
| 2-----7 |
| | | |
| | | |
| | | |
| 5-----4 |
| / \ |
3-----------6
This keeps the definition of "clockwise" relative to the same observer, as apparently intended by Vernon per his description, as opposed to looking at it from the outside in both cases (and therefore from opposite directions)
