Quite a simple problem really:
There exists a word. It begins and ends with the letter 's'.
It's structure is as follows: S, two consonants, a vowel, three consonants, a vowel, two consonants, S.

scribblings
scrollworks
splashdowns
sprinklings
stringhalts
strongholds

I would discount synonymists, as clearly the y's must be vowels here, or there'd be syllables without vowels.
