All Journeyman and Scholar members, including YOU, have that 'inside'
advantage. Few, however, have programming ability comparable to
Charlie's. There is certainly nothing wrong with using a program on
this problem -- the problem did not prohibit such. There can still be
a comment that provides analysis explaining the solution that Charlie
found, and the question of uniqueness could bear some analysis as well,
I would think. The problem has a difficulty rating of 2, so if that is
accurate and based on no program being used, somebody should be coming
up with those analyses very soon. If not, that will indicate that the
problem wasn't interesting enough to pursue without a program, and not that Charlie spoiled
it, in my opinion.
