The famous saying, 'expect the unexpected' is well known. However, can it be true?
Though the sentence is imperative, I think the gist is to determine if what's asked is a valid thing to do.
To quote Michael Shermer, editor of Skeptic magazine, "One in a million shots (events) happen 8 times a day in New York City." More strictly speaking one-in-a-million per person per day chance events happen 8 times a day in NYC on average. Each of those is unexpected (unlikely), but with great probability some of them will indeed occur, though we don't know which.
