The sum of two positive numbers is 1068 and their Highest Common Factor is 89. How many pairs of such numbers are there?

modification to bobz solution | Comment 2 of 14 |
bob...if you see your soln. , u will find that (2,10) cannot be the solun.. becaz in that case no. are 2*89 and 10*89 which has a HCF of 2*89 . similar case with other solutions where x and y are not mutually prime! hence we are left with only 2 case ...(1,11) and (5,7) .

hence 2 such pairs possible ....
