The famous saying, 'expect the unexpected' is well known. However, can it be true?

if what is expected to occur is the most likely outcome

then in any situation where the probibility of the most likely outcome is less than the some of all other less probable outcomes then one would be correct to expect that one of the many unexpected outcome will happen.

so given a 50 sided dice of which 20 sides are blank and the remaining 30 sides are labled with the number 1 to 30.

if you were asked what do you expect to be written on the side that it lands on when thrown (what is most likely) you would say blank corretly, but in fact the most likley result is one of the many unexpect values all of which you would be equilly wrong in naming as the most expected outcome of the trown.
