What is common? (Posted on 2006-07-18) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Banana
Dresser
Grammar
Potato
Revive
Uneven

What do these words have in common? What words (in the English Dictionary) start with 'V' and follow the same rule?

It is true, vidi and vici may also be found in the English Dictionary (they are in mine), but I found vidi and vici as designated as Latin, not English, and I found them only as part of the compound entry, "veni, vidi, vici", and not as separate words in the dictionary.

I almost did not include vara in my list.  In the dictionary I use, it is of Spanish origin, is defined with Spanish and Portuguese pronunciation, and is used primarily in Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries, yet it was not designated as a foreign word.

I do suspect there might be words that fit the pattern in other English Dictionaries.  Vidi and vici might even be found in those.
