What do these words have in common? What words (in the English Dictionary) start with 'V' and follow the same rule?

I had a look at the rules again and vanilla doesn't work. Sorry. It seems to me that you need the then second and last letter to be the same and the third and second last letter to be the same. I can't see any other rules.
So after scouring the dictinoary I found :   "verdure" meaning lush greeness of fress vegitation (hey I didn't know :) )
