In a sesquipedalian farm, a hen and a half lay an egg and a half in a day and a half. How many eggs would seven hens lay in a week and half?
In a Three-Quarter Ranch, a hen & three quarters lay an egg and three quarters in a day and three quarters. How many eggs do seven ducks lay in week?
Half a hen would be dead thus unable to lay any eggs AND it is impossible for a live hen to lay half an egg. Therefore in a day and a half, 1 whole live hen would lay 1 egg and a 2nd egg would be halfway to being laid. So 7 hens in 10.5 days would completely lay 70 whole eggs. So 70 is the answer, but by the end of the last day there will be 7 more eggs on the way.
At first glance I thought the second part would be very easy but then I learned that a female duck IS called a hen. So by the same logic as above, in 7 days, 7 ducks would lay 49 eggs.
In both cases each hen lays 1 egg per day.
