You have broken into Contraplexus headquarters, a secret organization bent on destroying all puzzles in the world, with the task of procuring the latest research they have developed in another room.
Most of the building is one large room with several desks, and to the north is the door leading into the next room.

The difficulty is your spy boots have tracked in mud, so you can't walk across the floor; instead you enter from the south doorway and steal the only office chair from a nearby desk.
I enjoyed working behind the scenes on this (sometimes in error, but also constructively).
Thanks Gamer for raising this excellent puzzle.
My subject title tells a lot. I trialed and couldn't get results. I erred by not perceiving that I had missed some possibilities.
Member e.g. claimed a route for an errantly published diagram. That diagram had the opening one space to the right.
Federico Kereki, who produced the wonderous graphic above, had a graphic for the originally published version. I "screen copied" it into MS Word. Using the graphic tools it provided, I drew the path "a la the minator labyrinth", but I could cancel my arrows.
The path of that was a "short course" of Gamer's intent.
In a very poor analogy, Sam Loyd proposed an endgame in chess with certain pieces on the board. Some pieces were traumatically removed but the endgame consequence would still be the same!
Without offence, and this was mooted "behind closed doors", that there might be two scenarios for this problem.
In hindsight, I'm thinking, as FK queried in discussions, that this could have sustained a second 'level'; ask for the short course and then ask for the "add-on".
Gamer. I note that this has generated some interest.
Federico. Your imported use of technology demands applause!
I personally feel that such additions add to the
"professional" character of the site.
Gamer, good puzzle; Federico, clap my hands.
