All Wrong at the Olympic Games (Posted on 2007-06-15) Difficulty: 3 of 5
In the marathon, all the competing countries were from Africa, but not the usual runners, and maybe that caused all prognostics on the race results to be wrong:

1) Algeria will not win the gold, nor Botswana the silver.
2) Chad will win a medal, and Djibouti will not.
3) Djibouti and Egypt will both win medals.
4) Djibouti will not win the silver, nor Egypt the bronze.
5) Algeria will win a medal, and Chad will not.

Who won which of the medals?

Let's A1/2/3 means Algeria has gold/silver/bronze, A0-no medal, A123 - any medal. Then the conditions are:

(1) A1 or B2
(2) C0 or D123
(3) D0 or E0
(4) D2 or E3
(5) A0 or C123

Let's assume A1 is true from (1). Then C23 from (5), D23 from (2), E0 from(3), D2 from (4). So: A1,D2,C3,B0,E0.

Now assume B2  is true from (1). Then E3 from (4), D0 from (3), C0 from (2) and A0 from (5). So: X1,B2,E3,A0,C0,D0.
