All Nine? (Posted on 2007-09-24) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Place the letters back into their respective row or column in order to create a word search grid satisfying the problem name. (? in the title=a red herring?)

r

BONUS: Once you have solved this one, can you make an even smaller grid?
What about with the eight?

Solution A Smaller Grid | Comment 14 of 16 |

The 6x8 and 4x12 grids of the "Nine?" planets each has an "area" of 48 compared to the 7x7 grid of an "area" of 49, thus each may be considered 'an even smaller grid'. Excluding PLUTO, a grid of an "area" of 45 (5x9) may be created:

H T R A E *    P V E E    S U N E V
M A R S N *    L E A N    E S R A M
E V E N U S    U N R U    N U J S E
R P T R T U    T U T T    U N U A R
C L I U P N    O S H P    T A P T C
U U P T E A    Y U J E    P R I U U
R T U A N R    R N U N    E U T R R
Y O J S * U    U A P R    N * E N Y
               C R I U    E A R T H
               R U T T
               E * E A
               M A R S
