3 Years in One? (Posted on 2003-05-27) Difficulty: 3 of 5
At a party, the guest of honor stood up to make an anouncement. She said:

"The day before yesterday i was only fourteen. Next year, I will be 17."

How is this possible?

Solution... Comment 23 of 23 |

Yes, late I know... But as far as I'm aware, I can post a solution whenever I want! (Correct me on this if I'm wrong...) I simply posted here because this was a Riddle I felt I could do. (Even if the solution is up, which I HAVENT read.)

The date will be the 1st of January. Your birthday will be 31st of December. Therefore:

Two days ago, the day before your birthday (30th December), you were 14 years old. The day after (or one day ago), your birthday came around, with which you became 15 years old. This year, (albeit right at the end), you will become 16 years old. And therefore, next year you will become 17.

Not the clearest of solutions, but a solution all the same.
