Determine h(12) + h(17), given that h(g(y)) = y

g(y) = y - 1 if y is even,
          y + 1 if y is odd

therefore, g(g(y)) = y

therefore, g(y) = h(y)

h(12) + h(17) = 11 + 18 = 29

In general, h(a) + h(b) = a + b, if one is even and the other is odd
