It is possible, then, "Around here" and "outside the problem's text" hints that this is another "pid" puzzle. 

Taking the the number seperated by a colon as the pid (e.g., 4:45 is pid=445) and the ordinal number indexing the word (counting a number in the given text as a word) where the first letter of the word as the 'answer', one can find a series of letters that range from a to g like are found as musical notes. The following are those 'notes' that result from this manner of decipherment:

As I am not musically inclined, identifying a song by notes would be difficult to me, and thus am unsure if this 'decoding' is correct.
