L is any integer other than a power of 10. M is any integer. Show that there is an integral power of L that begins with the sequence of digits given in M.
Thanks for stopping by and having a look, Dej Mar. I should have specifed for L, M to be natural numbers (negative values are problematic too). This discrepancies miss the point of the problem, though.
Charlie is very close. His idea brings us practically all the way there. Instead of talking about the mantissa being a random number though, we want to build upon another concept.
This is my first problem to appear on Perplexus. I hope it is not poor style for the submitter to comment his own problem..
