Strange sequence (Posted on 2005-11-15) Difficulty: 4 of 5
If f(0)=0 and for n>0, f(n)=n-f(f(n-1)),
what is f(1,000,000,000,000)?

Computer solutions welcome,
though a proof would be better!

f(3) = 2.

f(4) = 4 - f(3) = 4 - 2 = 2

Then, the rest is right.
