What is the center of gravity of the perimeter of a triangle (as when a piece of wire is bent into triangular form)?
The center of gravity a solid, homogenous triangle would be the centroid of the triangle.
'The centroid of a triangle is the point of intersection of its medians (the lines joining each vertex with the midpoint of the opposite side).'
If the three vertices are located at
(x1,y1), (x2,y2), and (x3,y3),
then the centroid is at
(1/3*(x1 + x2 + x3 , 1/3*(y1 + y2 + y3)).
-----
See later post for the center of gravity of the triangle where the triangle is not a solid, but where the mass is located only at the perimeter.
