A man was so bothered by his wife's mother and brother that he opted for divorce. He remarries another woman, only to discover that his mother-in-law and brother-in-law remain the same. Seeking relief, he divorces once again, this time resolving to stay single. Nonetheless, he has the same brother-in-law.

How is this possible?

This ignores the first sentence in the problem, which gives the man's irritation at his brother-in-law as part of the reason for seeking a divorce.

Of course, Brianjn could credibly point out that divorce was no solution in this case, as the divorce did not fully to de-relate the irritating brother-in-law. However, I would counter that the obnoxious b-i-l has, indeed, been partly de-related. :-)
