Devious Kinder Blocks (Posted on 2008-06-18) Difficulty: 3 of 5
For integral unit increments of x, what equation generates the values of y which are represented in the blocks?

Avoid the obvious.

Hint:
The trick works with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera but Opera may behave a little differently to mouse explorations; oh, concentrate on the higher part of each block.

(In reply to A sequential look.... by Dej Mar)

DJ posted XX where he hid a text box (I understand what he has done but the reference and use of the clipboard still puzzles me).

Here I used another attribute of html tags to hide the values, those  not so "obvious".

I concede that you make a plausible case with what you see on screen, but that has not taken into account the reference to "mouse explorations" in the hint which is the essence of "the trick".

Sequences, tricks, general?  They were all categories which I considered, and i did wonder whether this should have been D2 but nobody addressed that question when I asked.
