The following array of "
*'s" 'masks' four three letter words which are to be read in the usual practice of left to right, and top down.
Now here are some considerations.
1. Letter frequency is not restricted.
2. When all places are filled,
all letters are rotated one place (direction is immaterial) around the square. At that point you must still have four three letter words.
3. Common English words are preferred.
(Words borrowed from other languages are acceptable, but try to limit words rarely found in English.)
Charlie posted many of the solutions, though not all.
For those interested in finding other solutions, one might note the two words of the left and right column of the counter-clockwise turned grid will be anadromes (a neologism for a word when spelled backward is a new word or palindrome) of the top and bottom rows of the clockwise turned grid, and the two words of the top and bottom rows of the counter-clockwise turned grid will have the same two words of the left and right column of the clockwise turned grid.
Here are a few examples:
ABA ABA ADO AGA AGO GAB BAD BAG DOG GOD GAG
G D
AGO
ABA ABA ADO AGO ANA BAD BAN DOG GOD NAB NAG
N D
AGO
BAH ABA AHA ATE AYE BAH BAY ETA HAT YET
A A
YET
ABA ABA AGO ANI BAG BAN BIN GAB GOB NIB OBI
G N
OBI
