A box has integer dimensions, and when each one is increased by 2, its volume doubles. What is the largest possible dimension?

Why can't we approach this in a simple stupid way:

l - Length of each dimension (same since it is a box)
n - Number of dimensions

and then solve following equation

(l+2)ⁿ = 2lⁿ
