Wrap a gram (Posted on 2009-04-01) Difficulty: 3 of 5
The table is composed of five-letter words reading downwards.

Retain the cyclic order of the letters but using the wraparound process
(ie, 1,2,3,4,5 2,3,4,5,1 or 5,1,2,3,4) replace each given word with
an anagram (which is a valid word), and so determine a short message.

Dej Mar,
I have alfet, curre, escot and escar listed in my solution. 

I think my source was compiled for "Scrabble" players in its very early years so the definitions may not be as accurate as you have given.

I really did expect you would have found "escar" since you always sem to come up with obscure words.  Anyway it seems 'escar' is a glacial gravel ridge, beyond that I can help no further.

BTW I do like the layout of your solution.
