The attempts to postulate beyond the givens belie the solutions offered. Most likely the stray package was intended for TATA, the corporate giant, especially if written in English capital letters. It is difficult to imagine how a label could be "torn" with the result stated (presumably a delivery address as well would have had to be removed -- not a casual accident by any supposition). You would probably need some sharp scissors to remove all traces except the "TA" and then you can argue the probabilities based on how much extra space occurs to the right of the TA which remains -- the greater this amount, the more Calcutta (ending in "TA ") would be favored. I hope the proposer contemplated the whimsical over the farfetched maths.
