The Garden (Posted on 2011-05-30) Difficulty: 3 of 5
Something has broken into the garden, and has eaten what I planted there. Whatever it is, it started at each one of 11 different locations (in darker green below) and each time dispersed pieces of the scrambled plant, fruit or vegetable along its path (one letter per square) until it had finished with all its parts. The first letter in each case is at the starting location.

Try to figure out what the eleven plants, fruits, or vegetables I planted, and each time take the last letter from the path (reading from left to right and top to bottom) to figure out what broke into the garden. (For example, the creature started at the top left T and ended three spaces over, dispersing pieces of TOMATO along the way.)

T M O A A G R T R
N A T O A B E B A
A I S R C D B C O
A U A I O A T A G
N I O V C E F N A
B P L T W L R U A
F S R U O B E R R
R E N Y W A S R T

Some Thoughts the last letters? | Comment 2 of 5 |

I think the last (lower right) letters in each group are supposed to be rearranged to form the intruder's identity.  From top to bottom, I think the last (in reading order) letter of each is:

tomato      O
cabbage     C
carrot      A
avocado     C
iris        I
banana      B
tulip       U
rutabaga    A
fern        N
sunflower   N
strawberry  T

... or maybe I misinterpreted the instructions. I don't know what these letters could be rearranged as.
