There are 60*60=3600 seconds in a degree. In a circle, there are 360*3600=1296000 seconds. Therefore, the second hand travels 1296000 seconds in a minute. There are 60 seconds in a minute, so the second hand goes 1296000/60=21600 seconds in a second.
