I was thinking rust, or water, both of which damage things.
But it didn't seems to fit with girl-gilder.
Then I reminded the Golden Girls, those girls who have entered their golden years.
So I am going with time and age, those two inescapables which bring all things low.
But who the heck is Rowald? Maybe a rhyme for "grow old"?
Yes, that fits! "Grow old" is "Rowald"s "rime"
