A computer program gave 24 separate results for:
MAY * YAM = LEG * GEL.
The sentence 61 2$$3 37$$ 67 uses only 5 distinct digits whilst the equation has 6.
These are the only sets from which 5 distinct values can be drawn:
M= 1 A= 5 Y= 6 G= 2 E= 7 L= 3
M= 1 A= 5 Y= 6 G= 3 E= 7 L= 2
M= 2 A= 7 Y= 3 G= 1 E= 5 L= 6
M= 2 A= 7 Y= 3 G= 6 E= 5 L= 1
M= 3 A= 7 Y= 2 G= 1 E= 5 L= 6
M= 3 A= 7 Y= 2 G= 6 E= 5 L= 1
M= 6 A= 5 Y= 1 G= 2 E= 7 L= 3
M= 6 A= 5 Y= 1 G= 3 E= 7 L= 2
61 2$$3 37$$ 67.
Using the letters corresponding to letters above 61 and 67 are MY and ME. And further substitution offers:
MY G$$L LE$$ ME.
Clearly the second word is 'girl'. I derived "Left" for the third. Now, if "My girl left me" I cannot decide why she did whatever she did.
