Nine of the following have something in common and one does not. Which is the odd one out?

I've sorted the anagrams into their respective vegetables:

 1. lettuce
 2. onion
 3. carrot
 4. rhubarb
 5. avocado
 6. turnip
 7. spinach
 8. parsnip
 9. parsley
10. asparagus

Possibly the avocado is the only one that's a fruit, and the name of the tree from which it comes.

But that doesn't mean the others have something in common, as some are known for their leaves and others for their roots or their bulbs. But despite their differences, they're known as vegetables per se, unlike fruit, which are considered separately from "vegetables".
