If the trick is to piece together zeroes and ones to form arithmetic operators, then, just as valid would be to remove the serifs from the ones and construct a fraction bar and even a multiplication dot:

Or, to take the 5 and iron it, cut it up and bend it to produce a minus sign and another number 1:
10021 - 1
Or, almost as easily, just bend, fold, straighten and combine the characters to be the digits that make the number 440.
If a given solution does not require an arrangement of the digit characters to be either turned or flipped, then I would say "Bravo", otherwise there is disappointment in this trick.
