The time solution is unexpected and elegant.
What still bothers me is the way digit "1" is written and the way the "T" appears with unnecessary serifs.
I agree that the rules might be vague to encourage creativity, but the solution should not distort the input data.
It would be nicer to present the initial number by matchsticks, so the 4:40 solution would be the most logical, without "flipping" and without any redundant tails.
Anyway, it was a "conversation starter"....
