True Or False - Part 2 (Posted on 2003-05-07) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Obviously the following statement is 'False':
"This sentence contains Seven words".

So we correct the sentence by changing it to:
This sentence does not contain Seven words".

We know that the First statement is False and so now can we conclude that the Second statement is True ?

Ravi, the second statement : "This sentence does not contain seven words" will be TRUE as long as the first word "This" is referring to the first statement: "This sentence contains Seven words". Merely adding DOES NOT does not neccesarily negate the first statement unless second statement is read always in context to the first statement. So independently read, second statement will be false with the existing choice of words.
