Sometimes excessive data obfuscates the information related to the problem.
Approaching my birthday (I will be 10*X+Y on Nov 24, 2012), I have decided to release some true facts from my c.v. in a form of a puzzle.
Read the text carefully and and try to solve it as fast as you can {for those who are acquainted with my tongue-in-cheek problems it is a D1, for the formalists and/or newcomers D2 or D3}.
Following considerable hesitations whether to place it under Tricks, Riddles or Logic I have decided to label it "Just Math".
So here we are:
Name: Ady Tzidon
Family status : married,
more than X/2 children, all boys
and 3*X-Y grandchildren
Education:
B.Sc (El.Eng) ............ 1907 + X*Y
Ph.D.(Comp.Sc.)........ 1927 + X*Y
Flooble's activity;......... JM, over 280 problems & over 1000 comments posted so far, some of them interesting and some provocative.
Assuming X & Y are decimal digits, please reply to my 4 questions:
1. How old will I be on November 24, 2012?
2. How long (in minutes) it took you to get the answer to #1 ?
3. How much is (X-Y)*3*(X3+Y2.5-11)?
4. When (if ever) will I become a scholar?
BTW: I graduated about 2 weeks after my 21st birthday.
