Just arithmetic signs (Posted on 2012-12-28) Difficulty: 2 of 5
A friend presented an easy puzzle to me:
"Given the digits 2 3 4 5 6 , insert 4 mathematical operators between them, do not change the order and get 10 as a result."
My solution was (2^3+4)*5/6 to which my friend reacted by:
"Exponentiation is not permitted, use just the 4 arithmetical operations (or less) and not more than one pair of brackets."

I've found a solution and dare you to find it or maybe find other solutions as well.

1. It wasn't instantatneous. I can't say for sure if the exponentiation one threw me off a bit. It was a surprise that the solution was so elementary.

2. Perhaps you should have worded it "Find as many solutions as possible." rather than "maybe find other solutions as well".

3. The "maybe" made me think I'd be on a wild goose chase to seek other solutions. Why did you include the word "maybe"? Also many other puzzles have wording to exclude trivial solutons. Why did this one not?
