Oh that is just wrong. by jduval)
The riddle is basically the same as the 'which weighs more, a ton or feathers or a ton of gold bricks?'. Traditionally, gold is weighed in troy units, while many other dry goods are weighed in avoirdupois units. A troy ounce is approximately 31.1035 grams, while a avoirdupois ounce is approximately 28.3495 grams.
Yet, the difference in ounces may not be simply the difference in the international troy or international avoirdupois. Other ounce units exist. The Maria Theresa ounce (28.0668 grams), the Spanish ounce (28.75 grams), the Roman ounce (27.4 grams), the Dutch metric ounce (100 grams), or the Chinese metric ounce (50 grams) could be referred to. So, depending on if a different unit is used between gold and lead, and which unit is or units are used, the answer may be either gold, lead, or they weigh the same.
