Al, Ben, and Cal played some card games, each game having exactly one winner.
- No player won two games in succession.
- When a player was the dealer for a game he did not win that game.
- The deal proceeded from Al to Ben to Cal; then this order was repeated until they stopped playing.
- The only player to win more than two games did not win the first game.
Who was the only player to win more than two games?
Using pencil & paper, and stopping when one player had won three games, I came up with 8 possible sequences of winners:
6 of then had the player who won first also being the first to three games, so these do not work:
Dealer: ABCABCA
Winner: BABCAB
BCABAB
BCABCAB
BCABCB
BCBCAB
CABCABC
Two sequences do work:
Dealer: ABCABCA
Winner: BCABCAC
BCACABC
So C won three games on the seventh hand.
