Of these four words, AYS is considered archaic or poetic in many dictionaries, and thus may not be considered common.  In addition, in accordance to note (a), both ADS and AYS may be considered plurals, and, thus, are not permissible.

Without the restriction of note (a), yet restricted to North American English (Scrabble) word lists, both ADS and AYS do not form twelve valid words, yet, both EAR and ILL do.
