re: hint.....PARTIAL SPOILER by Charlie)
I have checked** - all your couples qualify – for each of them there exist tens of English words, not only RUSHER, creating a valid alphametic with a single solution.
I can find a valid "spouse" for MURMUR using a structure 593RU0, where 5,3,9, and 0 are none of M,U,R.
Examples:
Murmur+accrue=friends; EDITED: ----WRONG EXAMPLLE BECAUSE OF cc in acrue
((
Murmur+antrum=divine;
Murmur+bedrug=puzzle;
Murmur+cherub=bikini;
Etc etc

For each of the above couples there are dozens of words qualifying as a sum in alphametic with only one valid solution.
I HAVE TRIED TO PROVIDE A PARTIAL LIST OF WORDS
QUALIFYING "AS A "sum" FOR murmur+walrus= "sum
" .but the printout got out of my control.
