More than Spoonerisms (Posted on 2015-06-25) Difficulty: 2 of 5
Pair each word below with another of the words, making three pairs. Within each pair, select some point in each word (may be different point for each word, and may be anywhere within the word) and combine the first part of one word with the second part of the other and vice versa. This will form two new words in the instance of each pair.

As an example, consider SILL and DRAW. After a split and reconnection, they will be SAW and DRILL.

After you have done this, you will have six new words, all within the same category. Identify the words and the category.

Solution Little early in the day here... | Comment 1 of 2
...but it's five o'clock somewhere, right?

SHEER / BERRY --> SHERRY / BEER

SCONE / WITCH --> SCOTCH / WINE

COFFIN / GEE --> COFFEE / GIN

Well, I guess it's not too early for coffee.
