Thinking that the count of words with E & S was inflated by the presence of plurals, I excluded words whose only S was at the end, still preserving words like LESS and BASIS, the new high is words with E and R:
ER with 70873 words.
Revision: actually we should exclude those plurals from all the counts not just counts of S with other letters. E & R is still the max, but the count is only 54764 words. And the JQ count is down to 4 of course.
